Genuine Halifax brand launched

About 10 years ago my husband and I were at the Farmers Market in Roanoke, Virginia, when I noticed a cardboard sign proclaiming "Halifax County Produce." I remarked to him that it was a good possibility that the produce wasn't even from the county, but since Halifax County didn't have a brand or seal for farmers' use, customers would have no way of knowing.

That day was in the back of my mind for years as I continually saw similar situations.

About a year ago Halifax County Tourism Director Linda Shepperd and I began talking about agritourism, agribusiness, and related topics. Because of those conversations, I decided that Glerin would create a branding identity that the county could begin using to help differentiate local products.

In order to allow the widest usage and exposure, we decided that the brand would be available for use on any product grown, raised, or made in the county. Vegetables, fruits, meats, wines, furniture, art, music - even products made in our local factories.

Glerin created and donated the Genuine Halifax brand in honor of our ancestors - farmers, business owners, and community volunteers - who worked hard to help build Halifax County. Their spirit and drive was Genuine Halifax.
